Step back in time at Aylesbury Town Council’s St George’s Day Victorian Historical Fayre and Parade on Sunday 24 April. We’re excited to bring you this entirely FREE event in a brand-new format. There is LOTS to see and do…
- Marvel at Dr Melford’s Travelling Show and be amazed by the world’s strongest man, fortune teller Bone the Seer, spectacular side-acts, entertaining performances and plenty of other mind-bending curiosities.
- Queen Victoria will be making an appearance alongside her personal secretary, Sir Henry Ponsonby. There will be an opportunity to sit back and enjoy An Audience with Queen Victoria at 12pm and 1:30pm.
- Be delighted by the Yarnsmith of Norwich’s tales of St George, dragons and 19th century oddities. Performing at 11am, 12:30pm and 2pm.
- Don’t miss the magic lantern show and experience an enthralling tale of adventure and discovery featuring the two-headed three-legged boy, the hula mermaid and the bearded lady. Performances at 11:30am, 1pm and 2:30pm.
- Explore the archives from Aylesbury Gaol (1847-1890) which reveals stories and images of Victorian prisoners.
- Expect plenty of arts, crafts, games and activities for the whole family to enjoy. Challenge your family and play the popular Victorian Hoop n Stick game, make all sorts of pills and potions with the Victorian Pharmacist and help our liquorice maker create the perfect sweet treat.
Join us at Discover Bucks Museum from 11am-3pm. This event is entirely free!
Please note the Museum café and Gift shop will be open on Sunday 24 April, the rest of the Museum, not being used for the St. George’s Day event will be closed. The Roald Dahl Children’s Gallery will be shut all day on Sunday 24 April.
St George’s Day Parade (from 3pm)
Give St George and his steed a wave in Market Square as he leads the spectacular St George’s Day parade. This one promises to be a parade Aylesbury will be proud of!
Also featuring Amersham Marching Band, fire dancers, representatives from Aylesbury’s Uniformed Youth… oh AND a dragon!
