Would you like to gain experience working with families and children in heritage? Would you like to put your existing experience working with children to good use?
We are looking for volunteers to help assist with the running of our workshops and activities in and out of term time. You might have lots of experience working with families or none at all: the most important thing is to be passionate about providing a positive museum experience for children!
What you’ll be doing
Working alongside our Education team you will help to support school workshops, toddler play sessions or family craft activities. This can involve: welcoming families and schools to our learning space, interacting with school and family groups as they take part in self-led craft activities, helping to supervise object handling sessions, helping to prep materials before the event and helping to set up and pack away an event or workshop. Your duties will depend on your availability and particular interests: just let us know what you would like to help out with!
Who we’re looking for
We are looking for warm, friendly people who want to help provide a positive museum experience for children (whether that is through an informal visit or a school workshop session). You are welcome to help out on an ad-hoc basis or commit to regular shifts, depending on what works best for you. If you would like to gain experience working with children or working in a museum space, or if you would like to use your existing experience and skills to help new generations foster a love of museums, this is the role for you!
