Meet Sue Gilbert, our new Volunteer Exhibition Organiser for Off the Wall
My name is Sue Gilbert and I am the Volunteer Exhibition Organiser for Off the Wall Art Fair in aid of the Friends & Patrons and Discover Bucks Museum. This year’s Off the Wall takes place from 16 November to 15 December 2024.
I am a graphic designer by trade and an art collector by inclination. I spent most of my professional career in publishing. For many years I have been volunteering with the Arts Society (formally known as NADFAS) spending three years running the national tea for Young Arts and latterly serving as the area heritage representative looking after fourteen societies. I have also been chair for my local group. During lockdown I helped produce the book 50 Treasures of the Chiltern Hills, currently on sale in the museum shop.
My interests in the Arts range across a very wide spectrum with a particular interest in ceramics and printmaking and I love a good auction where I can indulge my interest in art deco and contemporary art.
Off The Wall is the main fundraiser for the museum in 2024 and will also give many local and some not so local artists a chance to sell their work in the beautiful gallery space on the first floor. I aim to get a really good selection of all genres of art, design and craft for sale. Visitors to the exhibition will be able to buy the work ‘off the wall’ and take it home with them.
Looking forward to the challenge!
Sue Gilbert
