The Roald Dahl Children’s Gallery in the heart of Aylesbury is a magical hands-on adventure inspired by Roald Dahl’s wonderful stories. Visitors can play, discover and learn about the world around them in a unique environment full of interactive exhibits based on Roald Dahl’s books and characters.

The Children’s Gallery is housed in a beautifully converted Georgian coach house at Discover Bucks Museum. Since its opening, it has delighted thousands of visitors with its innovative and interactive exhibits that encourage learning through play.

Visitors can ride in the Great Glass Elevator, explore sound with the BFG or crawl through Fantastic Mr. Fox’s tunnel. Each exhibit is designed to spark curiosity and creativity while celebrating Roald Dahl’s extraordinary storytelling.

Highlights include:

  • Step inside James’s Giant Peach and magnify fleas and other minibeasts with a video-microscope.
  • Boggle your eyes, baffle your brain with amazing optical illusions
  • Appear in your own drawings on TV and make yourself disappear with an invisibility cloak.
  • Put your hand in the Twits’ feely holes, yuk!
  • Freeze your own shadow in the shadow booth.

The Roald Dahl Children’s Gallery is open on weekends and all Buck’s School holidays including this February Half Term, 15 –23 February with special events and seasonal activities adding an extra layer of excitement throughout the year.

This February half term, join us for exciting family-friendly activities, including Wild Science animal encounters, where you can meet fascinating creatures up close. Get creative with funky frames craft workshops, immerse yourself in interactive storytelling sessions, and explore hands-on exhibits and surprises for all ages. Some activities will take place in the Roald Dahl Children’s Gallery, while others will be hosted in the Museum, making it an action-packed week of fun and discovery for everyone!
