Wednesday 24 July – Space Cookies
Start off the holidays by decorating a space-creature cookie to take home.
You can also:

Saturday 27 July – Dig, Dig, Sparkle, Jingle-Jangle, Clink: Sensory storytelling with Collar & Cuffs
Join multi-award-winning sensory theatre company, Collar & Cuffs Co, for a sensory exploration of the discovery of the Lenborough Hoard, a hidden treasure trove of over 5000 Anglo-Saxon coins.
Expect singing, movement, and silvery, sparkling delights to stimulate every sense! This sensory storytelling session is signed in Makaton and is suitable for early years children and people of all ages with SEND, including those with profound and multiple learning disabilities (PMLD). Following the story, there will be extra time to play.
You can also celebrate Open Culture Weekend by popping into our Learning Zone to add a patch to our giant patchwork quilt. Whether you use paint, collage, fabric or felt pens, we invite you to create a patch that is as unique as you yourself

Learn to create characters, settings and plots with our creative writing workshop for young people.
All abilities are welcome. Please note that adults are required to supervise participants under 12. Adults with children aged 12 and over do not need to remain in the workshop room but must remain on site during this workshop.

Booking essential: All those wishing to do the craft activity need to purchase a ‘Participant’ ticket, accompanying parents/carers are required to book a ‘Non-participating’ ticket – unless of course they want to do the craft activity too. Parents/carers supervision is required throughout the event. Our team will be on hand to offer help and demonstrations, but be prepared to get ‘stuck in’. There are a limited number of spaces available at these events, to secure your ticket please book now using the buttons above. The event may sell out and we cannot guarantee there will be tickets available on the day.
These Craft participant/non participant tickets DO NOT give you access to the rest of the Museum, if you would like to take part in our ‘Summer of Fun’ activities and the Roald Dahl Children’s Gallery please also book Museum/Children’s Gallery tickets too.
Location: These events will be held indoors in our Learning Zones or under our marquee in the garden. Please arrive and check in with one of our friendly staff members at the Museum Reception.
Family Access Information: The exhibition ‘May the Toys be With You’ is in our Art Gallery upstairs and is accessible via a lift if required– perfect for pushchairs transporting sleepy heads. The play zones are dotted around the Museum and outside in the garden. Baby change facilities and toilets are available at ground level in the museum. There is plenty of space to park pushchairs and adventure by foot.
Café: Treat yourself to hot / cold drinks, light snacks and ice creams in our small café.
